I will give that a try at Christmas. I have gone to buying the bags and wrapping things in lots of tissue for birthdays and other gifts.

Where do you get the bags?? I make a lot of bread, and so far, I use the gallon zip-lock types, if my dear children have eaten some first. Also, sometimes produce bags (they develop tiny holes quickly, though)

And just wanted to say about 10 years ago, I got the neatest gift of a gadget made by Presto. A hard plastic bread slicing guide that cradles the bread, and it came with an electic knife. Here's a picture of it on ebay. (I'm not associated with that seller or anything; it was just the first place I found a picture of it.) I love that thing. hehe

Oh. I NOW see, after re-reading the thread, that the bags you speak of were not bread bags.

I do have some small plastic bread bags. I buy them at Kroger. They are good for small loaves of soft breads.

Thanks! Kroger groceries are called Fry's Foods here in Arizona. I will have to look there. I was going to ask the bakery manager at Sprouts Market (a health food grocer) if I could buy or order some of theirs as the kind they use seem to be the perfect size. I have reused the bags from bakery items I bought there, but my kids seem to maul and claw to death most bags I would otherwise be reusing.

They have some reusable ones on Amazon too. https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_/...d+bags&x=0&y=0

If you are making a crunchy, crispy crust bread, do NOT use plastic. It will soften the crust. Instead use a brown paper bag and do not close it.

This tip is from Dave Lieberman and it works.
