Angry Drain Odor Problem, help!!!

A couple of weeks ago, I started to notice a very odd smell coming from the kitchen sink. Kind of smells like old flower water, you know, stagnant. It is a sickening smell.

What is very upsetting is I keep an impecable kitchen and can't figure out why this is happening. I never throw any grease or ugly stuff down the drain. I use ice cubes to clean the disposal and the sink is always spotless.

I went online and found all kinds of remedies, but none have helped.
I used the baking soda and vinegar, a can of cola, boiling water and baking soda, lemon rind and juice, Lysol....of course doing them all one at a time and then the 'wait and smell' test.

Short of calling a plumber, does anyone have any other solutions? It is driving me crazy.

They make disposal cleaner, but I sometimes use bleach and ice to clean mine. That usually helps.

I forgot, I did buy disposal drain cleaner and that didn't help either. I'm allergic to bleach so that is out...I may just have to call a plumber and have the piping replaced.

Thanks! I read the article and I do run the water for a long time and do the dish soap thing. I'll try the oxygen bleach method and see what happens.

Are you sure it is coming from the dispoal and not through it maybe in the bottom of the dishwasher in the trap pan, when mine went out I found stuff I won't mention, and I keep a clean kitchen. Maybe run a cleaner through the dishwasher that is if you have one.

My dishwasher filters thru my disposal before it goes down the drain. If I am peeling potatoes and the dishwasher is on or if I forget to run it before the dishwasher starts to drain it backs up in the sink.

The dishwasher is new and has some sort of grinder/screen thingee. It's a thought, tho. I'll check the manual and see if maybe that is the problem.

The smell is coming out of the disposal side and the sink/drain side. Haven't stuck my head in the dishwasher to see if that smells. I'll check it out.

Thanks for the suggestion.
