Rep Power: 10 | Wok Do any of you know where I can find a traditional wok that doesn't have a flat bottom? My range is made so I can turn over the burner grate and it will support a wok. All of the ones I have seen for sale have been made to sit flat on the bottom and I don't need that. |

Rep Power: 10 | I like Homegoods they have a lot of neat stuff, but it's always hit or miss as to what they have. I think they get things from department stores, last season kind of items. Some are really nice.
Thanks I will check out the links. |

Rep Power: 10 | Well drat. The first one had this in the reviews. Quote: Not Round Bottom, But Good For A Flat Bottom Wok, February 25, 2006
Juat a "heads-up" for those of you looking for a nice Round Bottom Wok. This wok is listed as "round bottom", so I ordered one for use on my gas top stove. I specifically wanted a round bottom wok as I not only believe they cook more evenly, but I have a wok ring to use with it. Amazon suggested I buy a wok ring to go with this wok. When it came, it was FLAT BOTTOM! I was so disappointed, but ordered another (which shipped very quickly, thank you Amazon) and the second one was ALSO FLAT BOTTOM! I returned it, too. I am taking a break from the order-and-return cycle, but hope to shop again here with Amazon. I just won't order the Joyce Chen Round Bottom Wok...although the quality looks superb.

that seems to be the case any time I find one. |

Rep Power: 10 | I wish they would show the bottom sometimes even though the inside is rounded it still has that flat bottom.
It's hard to really check things out online. |

Rep Power: 2 | I had no idea it was so difficult to find a standard wok. When did these flat bottom ones become so popular? Doesn't that defeat the point of the wok? Its supposed to have the rounded bottom.
Have you tried a restaurant supple store? I think there's one on West Washington St in Charleston. I looked to see if there where any in the area since Alton seems to recommend shopping at them. I never have been to it , though
Do you ever go to the Huntington Mall? There's a kitchen store in the mall, I've found nice things there. And Linen N Things is on the outside of the mall, they usually have good stuff too.
We're cursed not having a good kitchenware store in the area. There's an awesome place in Asheville, NC called Kitchen & Co. Every time I'm down that way I stop. Kitchen supply nirvana |

Rep Power: 10 | I didn't know there was a Linens and things in Barborsville. But I don't go that way too often. We are going to Columbus in June, if I don't find anything then I will seek out restaurant supply. I think the flat ones are so popular because lots of people have electric these days and it's to sit on the burner, but I have a special wok thing and I want to use it.
I am determined to learn to make more asian dishes at home with better ingredients than the packaged stuff. I have never been successful with that unless I use packaged stuff and Aunt Sandy it. |

Rep Power: 1 | I have an very old round bottom steel wok that came with a ring. It's probably 30-35 years old. It's still in the box it came in. It was manufactured by Alco Industries. I Googled their site and they don't sell them anymore. Actually, they have very few items for sale. I haven't seen one of these types for years so I'm thinking your best bet would be a restaurant supply house. Unfortunately, the last time I visited the one in my area a few months ago I found that they'd closed up shop or I would have run over to check for you.
