Fiestaware

Do any of you who aren't from WV own any fiestaware? It's made here and MiseEinPlace and I have been having our own little private profile and photo album discussion about it, so I couldn't help but wonder if anyone else has fiestaware pieces. I have started a small collection and I plan to expand on it with full place settings soon.

Nope do not own any, but have heard of it, isn't that the colored stoneware comes in many colors ? we use Corelle for everyday, than we have two sets of China, my set of Gordon Ramsay Royal Dalton, and her set she has had forever, not even sure who the maker is.

Storage is an issue for me now, but I will definitely have some of this in the future. My grandmother had Fiesta back in the day. I do love retro stuff, I have some glass mixing bowls from thrift stores that are pretty old and I always have my eye out for cool ones.

I like the shamrock color best. I do have a scarlet pizza tray and a couple of sunflower pieces. But I am going to try and collect the most shamrock I can.

I know I don't count... but since you asked

I love shamrock because green is my favorite color. And I have pieces in: peacock blue, cobalt blue, tangerine, sunflower, black, evergreen, cinnamon and aqua.

I also have several white pieces made by Homer Laughlin China that are not Fietaware. They are from their commercial line for food service. Yeah, I'm a dork and I've read the history of Homer Laughlin China.

Did you know that Alton had some Fiestaware pieces on Good Eats! In the early episodes (the first kitchen, the white one) check out the china hutch some time! I've spotted the pitcher and some plates, look to be in the old ivory color. Alton has good taste!

I should posted my Fiestaware/Alton Brown experience I don't think I have

Of course you count. I was just expanding on our discussion. We should be proud of our WV product!!

It will be easier for us to talk this way. And we love Alton stories.

When I went to Alton's book signing in March--I know I posted about that, but my brain was in a fog for weeks after and I think I forgot this part! -- I asked him about the Fiestaware in the early episodes.

So he tells me that he likes Fiestaware! Then he says with a little mischievous smirk, "but it's poison." I started laughing and told him, "not any more!" (He was talking about the lead paint in the older red pieces).

That's when I pulled out something I brought. I told him that I had come from WV for the book signing and I wanted to give him something. At this point, he backs away from me and has the guy helping him with the book signing to back up too, but all the while he's got this grin on his face. He asked if I had brought my guns and ammo. So I start laughing at him and he walks back up to me. I unwrap my item and hand him a sunflower colored Fiestaware trivet (I liked it because it had the senorita dancer logo on it).

He looks at me and asks if this is for him. I told yes and something my mush brain can't recall now. He just keeps looking at it. He makes a move to sign it, then stops and asks me again if it is for him to keep. I told him yes. He smiled at me and thanked me for it. Then after we talked and he signed my book, he thanked me again as I was leaving.

I don't know what he was thinking when I gave it to him, but it really seemed that he appreciated that I gave him something. In fact, it seemed to catch him off-guard. I know it made me feel awesome because he was so nice in the way he accepted it.

Aww that's nice. It would be cool to see it show up on Good Eats sometime.

If that happened you'd probably hear me squealing!!

Have you ever been to the Everything Fiesta Store in Flatwoods?
Sometimes there are nice items in the seconds room. The late time I was there I found salsa bowls. That got me into the cinnamon color. They only had cinnamon in them but they were so darn cheap!!
