Question What's your dream kitchen item?

What would you like to have in your kitchen if you could pick anything you want?

Ugh! A bigger oven!! Our house isn't that old and we bought it new. However, the kitchen was already completed and we really didn't notice the built-in oven. It is a microwave on top and an oven underneath. They did these gorgeous oak cabinets all around the kitchen. It is very gourmet and I love it.....except for the oven. It is very small and I had to buy smaller cookie sheets just so the oven could accomodate them.

Our last house had double ovens, so I have had to improvise big time! I even went as far as buying a counter oven, which I use for the holidays. The time will come when we have to replace the oven. Boy, will it come with a price. All the cabinets are custom made so it is going to a huge $$$$$ expense!

I finally got my big oven, it's the only thing I have ever asked my husband for. The center has a grill. When we moved in my oven was about 19 inches. It was a wall oven too.

Whatever happened to the 'other' kitchen in the basement?

Other kitchen? We had one in the living room for months while this one was being built. Is that what you mean?

Most Italians had their serious kitchen in the basement...it was the 'production' center.

Yup. My Grandparents had a kitchen in the basement. When they had parties lots of cooking went on down there.

I thought that was just in Gangster movies where they have the women out of ear shot.

Many of my ancestors were Native American Indians. They didn't have kitchens at all.

My aunt had a kitchen in her basement...she was Sicilian. Lots of homes in the midwest had cooking areas in the basement and then you would eat down there as well. The basement was like the family/dining room/entertainment area. Then they had a table for the adults and the 'kids' table tucked in a corner. I hated that table.
