Rep Power: 10 | It does but not in the same way as iron. It oxidizes at a different rate and a film will coat the surface. My egghead engineer husband is still talking but I am not going to type all of that. |

Rep Power: 2 | Speaking of egghead (not calling your husband one), I once had an egg slicer where the tiny metal wires that slice through the hard-bolied eggs had rusted.
I had to toss it and get andother one. This one is stainless steel. Same thing with an old Echo spoon rest that I had. It was made using a cheap chrome-plated metal and had rusted pitifully!! I now have TWO very heavy solid stainless steel ones and a hard melamine one that will NEVER rust ever!! |

Rep Power: 3 | Speaking of spoon rests... I just use a couple of my older saucers that have gotten a little rough around the edges. They'll catch drips from the biggest spoons and ladles... not something extra taking up room in my wee-tiny kitchen, just toss them into the DW and they store right along with my other saucers in the cupboards. And... you can still eat off of them making them a uni-tasker. |

Rep Power: 10 | I always get the enameled cast iron spoon rests. Mine is red now. I have an old one that's blue and it's still in good shape but nothing in my kitchen is blue anymore after the remodel. I guess I should give it away. |

Rep Power: 2 | Speaking of cast iron, I forgot that I also have a cute little cast iron spoon rest that looks like a tiny little skillet! Haha!! |

Rep Power: 1 | I have this onion dicer thing that my husband picked up from Bed Bath and Beyond...you have to be Arnold Schwarzenegger to press down on it hard enough to actually cut through the onion. I just cut the darn thing with a knife.

I just cut the darn thing with a knife. | I've seen those also in the local grocery foods in the produce sections. About 3 years ago I did get the fruit and veggie chopper made by Progressive in a kitchen store in KS and like it. Got sharp blades (3 of them - small dice, large dice and slice for soft things like mushrooms) and like to use it when I've got a LOT to dice. Makes short work of the job. The secret is not to have the pieces you put into it very large - like trying to do half of a onion at a time. But, I still use a knife for all the small jobs. |
