Mezzaluna

Do any of you have a mezzaluna? Do you like it and how often do you use it?

Don't have one. Just use the chef's knife and the cutting board.

yup, and not very often. Got a deal on a cutting board with cut in bowl made for mezzaluna, and the double bladed knife made for cutting up your herbs. For the price, you could not beat it, got it at Sam's for $25.00. I use the board evey day, knife sets there and looks pretty, guess if I used more fresh herbs it would get more use, but since my wife is so fussy over what herbs I use, I seldom get fresh herbs.

They do look lovely. I suppose that's why I am tempted.

This might sound like a dumb question tio some, but what is a mezzaluna.

Don't think I've heard the term used before, but I might have seen one before and don't remember.

Is it a cresent-shaped double-bladed knife with a handle on each end?

Thanks.

I just looked for it at Chefscatalog.com and found it. That's almost like a mortar and pestal.

I got one of those rolling mincers, the one with about 5 blades that you roll back & forth on the cutting board to chop up or mince garilc, small onions and herbs.

Plus the Oxo Garlic / Herb Chopper.

That's the KNIFE that I was trying to remember.

-=-=-=-=-

I found the roller mincer!

It was on the floor in the back room. Washed it and put it away in a place where I'll easily find it the next time I want to use it.
