ShamWow, Mighty Mendit & Snuggie Nothing to Write Home About!
I was reading an edition of the Boston Metro today and found an article on three 'As Seen On TV products - ShamWow, Mighty Mendit and the Snuggie.
Here are the findings;
1. ShamWow is said not to be a bargain because the ad exagerates with the sweater and soda claims.
2. Mightly Mendit, though good, it not recommended for garments that mus be dry-cleaned.
3. The Snuggie, though it keeps you warm, cozy and comfy, is no better than your bathrobe and pretty much does the same thing!
I somehow knew that these items weren't all they're cracked up to be. It's just a rubber talk ripoff!

Why do you always think everything someone is selling you is a rip off? No one forces people to buy anything, you can look at that snuggie thing and tell it's like a robe, if people buy it they know that but it might be something they want. My grandmother is 85 and she wanted one so she is dressed if someone comes in but she can cover up if she is cold.
You seem to think you have to buy everything just because it's advertised even if it isn't something useful to you personally. That's not a rip off, it's bad judgment in making a purchase.

I didn't buy these items nor do I plan to. Nor am I trying to talk anyone else out of doing so.
I just merely repeated what the newspaper article said. I can't help what I read in the papers.I'm a supreme Fan of Bentley Green & Aaron McCargo Jr.!!:appl:

A rip off would be if they charge you more than you agreed to pay or was said expected of you to pay. People can sell anything, and if someone can manufacture something people want to purchase that's the American Dream. If they buy it and can't use it or already have something that does the same thing then it's their fault, not the seller's.

They just had a HUGE story about the Snuggie on the news and they have sold 4 million of them since going on the market in August.
Doubt all those people think it is a rip-off...wish I had come up with that idea.
There is a market for EVERYTHING...these items prove that point, you are just not the target audience.BerryBaby

It's when someone gives you a whole lot of fast double talk about a product and their only interest is to try to make a fast sale, even if the item is probably no good..
I won't say they all are, but there are some. I run into them now and then on the streets - those hustlers who try to sell movies on DVD on the streets. I won't buy them because I know that they are no good.

Often these commercials are exaggerated, but not really a ripoff. I mean on the commercial for the snuggie, they make it look like such a hassle to maneuver with a blanket, kind of silly actually.
This looks like a fairly useful product for some, it is actually a copy of another product called the slanket, just with better marketing.MAC
Before you criticize someone you should walk a mile in their shoes, that way when you criticize them you are a mile away and you have their shoes!

I think the DVD thing is illegal so that's not really the same thing. Most of this TV stuff is made cheap and sold cheap. You get what you pay for. Often things that are simply someone getting a patent and finding someone willing to market it. They usually go with someone who can make and market it cheaply. I doubt anyone would pass up the chance to sell something they invented if they could get this kind of marketing, but all of us as buyers have to be smart enough to realize what we are actually getting.
I think the titan peeler thing is a good example. the product seems like it might be okay for the price, I mean it's not made by shun or anything so the expectations would be like any mass produced discount item. But they are charging people more than what they say in the commercials. THAT's a rip off, but simply selling a cheap item isn't, people can judge how much they want to spend and decide if they item is satisfactory for the price.

Those DVDs are either "hot" or bootlegged copies... a little different from legit items that are sold on TV. And, you don't have to buy items like the Snuggie from the TV ad for they are sold in places like BB&B for a cheaper price and you don't have to pay that S/H charge.
Just got a big ole
