Panasonic To Collaborate with The Culinary Institute of America on Microwave Research
SECAUCUS, N.J., Feb. 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Panasonic, a leader in microwave technology, today announced a collaboration with The Culinary Institute of America. This collaboration is designed to enhance culinary support for its renowned line of consumer microwave ovens. As part of this collaboration, The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) will develop no-fuss gourmet recipes for cooking with Panasonic microwaves, as well as create key microwave cooking technique videos that will be hosted on Panasonic's microwave "Virtual Test Kitchen" website.
I once had a Panasonic microwave for about 13 years until the glass window in the door cracked. Ot still worked reguardless, but I dumped it anyway. Someone on the street rumaging through the trash saw it and took it! Guess one man's junk is another man's treasure, hey?
And since it was a small one - only .8 cubic feet, I decided to make the next one a very large and roomy one.

I take all our old TVs, cellphones, computers, etc. to the recycle center so they can use the working parts in refurbished electronics.
We are not allowed to put anything like that in the trash. EVERYTHING gets recylced out here. Trash cans are pretty empty and the recyle bins are overflowing.
The trash collectors here won't pick up air conditioners, microwaves, refrigerators, freezers, washing machines or dishwashers, or even TV's, computer monitors. Environmental reasons, I assume.
All that stuff is picked up by a recycling co whose 800 number you must call so that the items in question can be picked up.
When I bought my new HD flat screen TV a year ago, I had to moved the big bulky old one out of the apt. It was supposed to be thrown out, but since I have a heart condition, I can't bring it downstairs to the sidewalk.
The landlord and his son was going to, but it's still sitting in the kitchen of the 3rd floor apt. It's been there for a year now.

You go to the Edisto Island transfer station and you'll find bins to recycle anything - the usual glass, metal, paper, but also for other things like used motor oil, paint, electronics, batteries, those new energy saving lightbulbs, old appliances, car tires, building materials and even oyster shells! Charleston Co. is big on recycling.
Speaking of recycling... I toss my meat trimmings and small chicken bones into the marsh for the crabs to enjoy. Today, I deboned some chicken thighs for supper and got three racks of baby-back ribs ready for the smoker tomorrow. Tossed the scraps in for the crabs, but today they had the buzzards beat them to them. Mother Nature's recyclers.
