Seems as though they are not making stuff like they used to these days. So sad!

And most major appliances aren't even made in the USA now. Shame! Cheap labor.

No, things are just being monitored more closely.

I, for one, am very grateful for all the agencies that check our food, appliances, etc. for our safety.

Recalls are a good thing. Years ago, we didn't have these agencies.

How, when things are supposed to be checked and up to snuff before it leaves the factory? There IS a code no tag that is placed on the appliances as each one goes through different stages of inspection.

You're right though, recalls are good in hopes to head off a major tragedy at the pass.

Maytag also had a recall on THEIR dishwashers as well about 2 years ago, and mine was among those models affected. It was repaired free of charge. To replace the rinse agent disspenser, the whole inner plastic door and main wiring harness had to be replaced.

Sometimes parts do not hold up as they should ... that's why you received your repair free of charge. You just don't know till the product has been used how well certain things will hold up. The time to get upset is if they try to hide problems and refuse to fix them, not when the issue recalls because they want to make it right.

My car has been recalled so many times. I joke with the service people about how I'm liking it as my car continues to be 'like new'.

They said most people don't find it humorous like I do.

Luckily, my Maytag portable dishwasher didn't show any signs of the wires shorting out or any burnt connections, but the rinse agent dispenser and wiring harness had to be replaced anyway as a precautionary measure to ward off any impending danger that would have occured later.

I bought my car on the first year of a complete redesign, everything was a new design. I had a bunch of recalls, I was on a first name basis with my service advisor! Sometimes it was a bit inconvenient but I am glad that they fixed those issues, because for 9 years this has been a completely trouble free car (knock on wood!). She is looking 9 years old, I have had such good luck with this car I think I will get it painted and see how long she keeps running like new!
