May 2009 food processors report: Which ones made the cut? Our May 2009 report on food processors, “Chop Time and Costs” (available to subscribers), revealed a strong trend toward multifunction machines and some good bang-for-the-buck performers. The Magimix Cuisine 5150, $480, for example, includes a juicer and citrus press attachment and three different-size chopping bowls; the smallest one us useful for chopping items like garlic. It also has a whipping attachment for cream and egg whites. While it would be nice to chop, slice, shred, puree, blend, bake, beat, whip, and juice with just one machine, the price of the Magimix kept us from recommending it or naming it a CR Best Buy. The top-rated Cuisinart DLC-2011BCN, $200 (shown), chopped, pureed, and mixed dough well, outperforming models that cost twice as much; other machines struggled especially with the latter two tasks. If you don’t bake, consider the KitchenAid KFP715[WH], $100. It’s quiet and small, with a 7-cup capacity. Note that most food processors in our tests could hold less than half of their dry capacity when processing liquids, before leaking. Read the rest of the report for more details. The Magimix though, claims that it has a large feed tube - yet it still looks awfully small to me. It costs about what I paid for the K'Aid KPFP850PM Pearl Metalic Food Processor.
Magimix is also made by Robot Coup, which used to make Cuisinart processors.
Also, it would have been a waste for me to get that one since I already have a Juiceman Juicer, which makes great fresh carrot juice!
I had thought about getting the next one down in the K'Aid line, but I decided to get their top-of-the-line model for power and durability.
I DID own a Cuisinart (DLC-7Pro) for 20 years, but after a while, the plastic drive stem for the slicing & shredding disks kept cracking and the worrk bowl would also crack and leak.
Then the lid wouldn't lock on to the work bowl! Guess it was time to get a new machine. And that is when I bought the K'Aid machine.

Cuisinart also now has a host of other kitchen appliances out, which they didn't have when I bought the processor by them.
I DID however get a juicer by them, but the thing, only lasted for about a 18 months. The rubber drive clutch began to rub up against the cabinet as it spun, giving off the smell of burnt rubber. Over time, it got much worst, so I tossed it and bought the Juiceman Juicer, which is much more durable and sturdy.
