one teaspoon of salt in 5 lbs of meat, does not seem like much salt, the juices would not contain more if you do not put more in, or am I missing something here ? the juice would be from the water and meat. I would think the package Italian mix would have enough salt with out adding the additional 1 tsp if you are wanting to really cut way back on salt. Guess I need to read up more but is 756mg a lot per serving ? what the daily intake recommendation, I know cutting back is good but not cutting out, it is a required mineral to live.

A couple of months ago, I bought the oval, big, Hamilton Beach slow cooker and LOVE IT!

I made an Italian Beef recipe in it and it turned out great. The meat was SO juicy and delicious.
Had a tri-tip roast I needed to use and it worked great.

Enjoy!

Several years ago I replaced my old crock pot with a 7-qt one made by West Bend with the removal insert. My old one I had received for a wedding gift a loooooog time ago and the insert had developed a crack. I even take it along on our RV trips. I can start something in the morning and when we get back in the evening... supper is ready. Even on travel days, I've loaded it up, sit it in the RV's kitchen sink, plugged it in and we have supper ready after being on the road all day.

It was a big life saver when we were doing the kitchen remodel and my range was on back order for a couple months.
