The Batali Bag
The Batali Bag
Mario Batali, style setter? In collaboration with watch manufacturer Cosmoda, the celebrity chef is expanding his retail empire by launching a line of designer lunch bags. The reusable bags, made to resemble handbags, messenger bags, and portfolios, feature insulated pouches, wipeable linings, and decidedly foodish colors (shades of "black pepper," "espresso," "pesto," and "persimmon"). Look for the bags, ranging from $25 to $45, to arrive at department stores and specialty retailers this October.MORE HERE

The persimmon tree that was in our yard when I was a kid (eons ago) had yellowish-orange fruit. Guess there's different types of persimmons like apples.

Probably so. My dad always used the phrase "grinning like a possum eating persimmons" if he thought we looked like we had been up to something.

I wouldn't be grinning like a possum if I was eating those things! They're so tart, I'd be so pucked up I'd be turned wrong-side-out!

I like the striped one that looks like a messenger bag... but I don't think I'll be shelling out the dough (pun intended) for one.

I wonder if his crocs line is more expensive than the regular ones? The regular ones are pretty high priced already for a rubber shoe.
All of his stuff seems very over priced and not as well made as some of the other star lines. His enameled cast iron is showing up in outlets now, I assume because it didn't sell in department stores. Nearly every piece I have seen has been chipped without ever leaving the store so I can't imagine trying to cook with it.
But I guess it's fun for his fans to get things with his name on it.
Emeril seems to have the best product line though from what I have seen.

I've only noticed the Mario cookware at one place. It was bright orange wasn't it?
I didn't know there were Mario crocs
I thought he just wore the regular orange ones!
I found a whisk croc charm for my pair
BTW, my crocs are tan NOT bright orange!
I've been eyeing that Emeril cookware for years now... but never got any. I might just go for some plain ole All-Clad someday since Alton uses that (and doesn't have his own line)
