While it may be true that we're seeing less and less of Mario on Food Network these days (and I don't mean that he's losing weight), we may be getting more of him on broadcast television. OK...public television, but still...
According to Contactmusic.com, Oscar winner Gwyneth Paltrow will be teaming up with Batali for a new program about the sights, sounds and tastes of Spain.

Fabulous!
This would be a fantastic pairing! I loved what Nigella Lawson brought to food shows, by integrating lifestyle and ambiance (the coziness of a home and backyard setting, coupled with the comfy jingling background music). I think Gwyneth will bring that same refreshing vigor to a Food network show---bouncing through Spanish countryside, while basking in memories and the cultural experience, is a sure recipe for a sucessful program. Appreciation of food is so much about the whole experience of setting and company.

I think it's going to air on PBS. I do wonder why it wasn't picked up by the food network. It does sound like it could be interesting. We will have to watch and see how it goes.
