I thought Panko was made out of rice flour.

In any case, I love using the Japanese Panko from CostPlus World Markets. I make Parmesan Encrusted Halibut with the Panko and it turns out with the most golden crust.

Bleached wheat flour, dextrose, partly hydrogenated soy bean and palm oil, yeast and salt.
I wonder if the Chiarello family owns Progresso?

From the link above:
Celebrity chef Michael Chiarello has created many panko recipes and wine-pairing suggestions, available at www.progressofoods.com.

I saw the thread title, read panko and the first thought in my head was 'japanese bread crumbs'. Now I know I do watch too much food network.

Maybe it depends on which brand it is whether they use regular flour or rice flour. In any case, it is a great staple to have on hand.
