Airmen featured on Food Network 's 'Dinner: Impossible'
1/16/2008 - SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas (AFPN) -- Television viewers nationwide will see a renowned chef attempt to feed 1,000 people at Sheppard Air Force Base when the Food Network airs a new episode of "Dinner: Impossible" in the coming weeks.

Chef Robert Irvine and his culinary crew were given 10 hours to feed members of the base and visiting civic leaders Sept. 22 as part of Sheppard AFB's celebration of the Air Force's 60th Anniversary.

"It's the 60th anniversary of the people -- men and women -- Airmen of the United States Air Force," Chef Irvine said in taking on the challenge. "If I can't give them a meal that they will remember for a lifetime, I won't do it."

Ten hours to feed 1,000 people. I hope he can use food that's already on base. Shopping seems to take a big chunk of his allotted time and really it isn't all that interesting to watch. I always root for him though.

Has he never not completed a challenge? They do so much editing that you have to wonder.

I thought there was 1 or 2 where he didn't finish or didn't complete all the requirements in the allotted time.

The only one I know of where it was close was the one at the baseball field and he did make it because they switched pitchers.

He definately failed the one at the CIA. He didn't complete all the dishes he needed.

I do remember that one. It was one of the first few wasn't it? Some of the judges didn't like their national dish on that one either if that's the one I am thinking of.

I'm looking forward to this one and the repeat of the Marine episode which follows that I haven't seen.

Unlike Mayqueen, I enjoy watching the Chef shop in the market.

I remember the commissary at Fort Knox had little arrows on the floor to tell you which way to go down the isle. I was always afraid to go backwards if I forgot something.

Wow he got to fly, that is so cool.

He has done Airforce and Marines now, he needs to do the Army now.
