HSN drops chef's items

HSN drops chef's items
St. Petersburg Times, FL - Feb 20, 2008
ST. PETERSBURG - Home Shopping Network has dropped all products promoted by celebrity chef Robert Irvine in the continued fallout from his recently reported resume padding.
Irvine, star of the Food Network show Dinner: Impossible and could-be St. Petersburg restaurateur, admitted in a St. Petersburg Times story Sunday that he exaggerated about his past. He had wooed business partners, socialites and a nation of foodies with bogus tales of knighthood and White House dinners.
St. Petersburg-based HSN sold eight different Robert Irvine products on its Web site, including cookware, knives and a mandoline slicer. Some of the products were produced by Irvine, such as his book and spice mixes, and others merely carried his name.....

Ouch, boy he has really screwed himself up big time.

Let the first one to not pad his resume cast the first stone.

I've only seen him on occasion and he seems like a nice guy. I guess he shot himself in the foot and FN will have to do some damage control.

I know this thread is only about his 'untruths' but I always wondered how anyone could cook for a crowd when given the limits he's given. Seems as though he'd have to know ahead of time what he was going to be dealing with.

I really like his show. It's one of the few evening shows I actually enjoy.

Any employee I ever interviewed embellished their resume to some extent. Most of the time, you just let it go and look at the whole person. We all want to look better and that's what he did...except he went overboard.

Hopefully, this will all blow over?

You would think he would know the kind of claims he was making would be easy for people to spot if they weren't true. I mean some of those claims are HUGE, the people who actually did do them would know he wasn't there.

I sometimes wonder if all these claims were not his, if part of it wasn't to give a boost to kick of the show, and really if it was on his resume. Who in their right mind would think that they would get away with extra padding sooner or later it will caatch up with you. Wonder if the network might not have had something to do with it ?

I think Robert was flying under the radar of those who did the actual work he was claiming for himself. They'd never heard of him or his show and had no idea he was making those claims.

And for the record, I don't pad my CV and I've never played for any member of the British royal family or American presidents.
