Dedicated foodies crowded a sold-out auditorium on Friday night to hear two oracles of food relay their thoughts on trends in the industry: David Chang and Anthony Bourdain. Having downed a few beers off and on stage, the duo were in fine form as they deliberated whether the hype surrounding pork belly, restaurant reservations and even themselves was mostly “bullsh–.”
Chang, who came off considerably more modest than Bourdain, admitted at the onset that the pair “was overrated.” Describing his “cutting in line,” or the unconventional path to stardom he had taken, Chang told the audience that it was “sort of bullsh– that [he’s] here.”
