Marco Pierre White is taking the helm of NBC's upcoming Top Chef ripoff, Chopping Block, a curious choice to head up a reality show. White is known at least as much for his aggressive chain smoking, his three tumultuous marriages, and his extraordinarily abusive personality as he is for his cooking. That is, when he's known at all. White is a rare contradiction: A bona fide celebrity chef, about whom hardly anyone has heard.
It will be interesting to see, if Chef White has the passion for food that Ramsay has or how they will show it, if he is just judging and not doing any cooking. I will be watching this show to see how it comes off, since he took over Hell's Kitchen in England from Ramsay. Seems to be a feud between these two, kind looks like he might have something with Mario also.

I'm not sure if that show is even going to last long.
I remember Emeril was in a TV sitcom and he was a chef in the background. Forgot the name of the show, but it didn't even get halfway through the season and it was yanked off the air!
Probably not because he's a bad actor, but maybe because no one wanted to watch a cooking show on prime-time NBC.

The name of the show was Emeril and it wasn't a cooking show. Emeril isn't the best actor. Emeril is best just being Emeril. I wonder how many times I can say Emeril in this post ....
Even though Emeril has had quite a few shows on the Food Network, you're right, Emeril is much more of a celeb than an actor. Emeril has a lot going for himself, and I'm pretty certain that Emeril feels right at home on the FN and FLN.
Emeril has paid his dues as a celeb chef. Now you got ME doing it.

This chopping block seems to be a take off from Last Restaurant Standing on the BBCA with Raymond Blanc , but that show has 8 couples with 8 different restaurants in different locations. This chopping block has two, side by side in NY city. Which will make the show quite a different reality because of the close proximity.

Not much new cooking on 'Chopping Block' Boston Globe - United States
The Food Network's "Chopped" premiered in January. Here's the premise: Two teams compete for $250000. (Cue dramatic voice-over: "It's the chance of a ...
I'm surprised so far, that the FN hasn't yet filed a petition to have the show yanked off the air, since it seems like a copycat version of Chopped.
It's not a copycat version of "Chopped." "Chopped" is chefs competing against each other in the same kitchen for the prize. "Chopping Block" is more like the Restaurant Wars episode of "Top Chef." "Chopped" is a copy of "Top Chef", so I don't think FN is going to be filing any petitions to have NBC yank this show. If anyone wants to fuss, it would be Bravo.
