Art Smith fares well on 'Top Chef' Washington Business Journal - Washington,DC,USA Never underestimate the power of fried chicken.
D.C.'s one contender in the Top Chef Masters reality competition airing on Bravo this summer, Art & Soul's Art Smith, was triumphant in the semi-final round of the competition that was broadcast Wednesday evening. ... next round of competition, facing off against the other five semi-finalists, including Chicago's Rick Bayless and Food Network favorite Michael Chiarello.
I was rooting for Art Smith last night. I don't know who I'm going to go with next week for I was hoping for Besh to be in the final and take the whole things. Oh, well...
So far, each week, my pick has won except for John.

After last night, it really impressed me, how the chefs each respected the other, how they when asked about what they were buying, it was I am buying products to showcase the other chef talents. I got to say I really enjoyed last nights show and hope next weeks is just as good. I think all the chef seem to have the attitude, I will present my best, hope to win but if not hope the other chefs do good. I hope all the other chefs that are thinking of entering any cooking contest watched this, for me it has set a standard that all chef and kitchen workers should attain too. I am still hoping either Chef Bayless or Chef Chiarello win the top two places. So far in my book they named this show correctly Top Chef Masters, now they need to come up with a new name for Top Chef or change the format because some of the attitudes, fighting, back stabbing, name calling that goes on puts a bad light on chefs that are trying to make it in todays market. Even chopped chefs could learn something from these chefs.

The respect for their fellow chefs and the profession is refreshing.
Last night on the mystery shopper part, they all respected the person they where shopping for. That is great to see instead the sniping, whining and backstabbing on other shows.
The other cooking competition shows could learn a lot from Top Chef Masters. It refreshing to see them working side by side without the side comments and backstabbing that tend to show up in other shows. But, then... these chefs are true professionals and are some of the best in the country at what they do. They care about the food and it's preparation and don't have ego problems like those in the other shows. The only chef out of this group that has a bit of the ego was the French chef Ludo Lefebvre. I was glad he didn't win that week.
