What is your lipid of choice most often when cooking?

What do you use most often when preparing meals at home?

I mostly use olive oil. Sometimes I use a mixture of olive oil and butter, depending on what I'm cooking.

I also really like using the Crisco olive oil spray when I'm cutting calories.

Olive Oil, but not just any...I have a new fave...

Lucini Extra Virgin Olive Oil. I also recently acquired the Lucini brand Pinot Grigio Wine Vinegar, and Lucini 10-yr old Balsamic.

Trouble is, I cannot find this brand ANYWHERE on the internet! I bought these at Sweetbay supermarket.

Lucini is the best Olive Oil I've ever tasted. Your mileage may vary.

(I had to edit this to refect the correct spelling og LUCINI Olive Oil! Sorry for the goof!)

Good old margarine when I need something. I'm not an olive oil person, it smells funny.

Good olive oil and unsalted butter, but mostly olive oil. You can really taste the difference between oils so I make sure it is a high quality oil.

Very true. That is the one thing I don't even try and cut cost with. I love a good Italian olive oil.

What BRAND of Olive Oil do you prefer? I've seen 'em go for more than $30 a bottle, and I've bought those, but can't really discern a big difference in taste.

Is there an over-all BEST brand?

Trader Joe's has the best olive oil in my opinion.

I get different kinds, my store gets in specialty items for the international section. I have a few I rotate but I like to try some of the specialty items when I can.

Look at the labels. Most often Olive Oil imported from Italy is made from olives from Spain, Portugal, Italy and Greece. Very few are made exclusively from olives grown n Italy. I was surprised how much harder it made to find Italian Olive Oil. I can taste the difference....even with a cigar in my mouth.
