Rep Power: 3 | How much tuna can you eat safely? We will tell you what the FDA won't.
This site uses the FDA's own scientific guidelines for what constitutes a safe dose of mercury to calculate the maximum amount of tuna you can safely eat each week and not exceed what the FDA considers a safe exposure level. As you'll see, the results don't jibe with the seafood consumption advisory the agency is proposing.
The FDA's proposed advice to consumers — eat 12 ounces of a variety of fish per week — if followed, could result in more women getting unsafe levels of mercury in their bodies than they currently do — assuming they have no other exposure to mercury than that from tuna. Rep Power: 10 | I ate tuna practically every single day while I was pregnant with daughter. Nothing happened to us...she was born with tons of hair, though! Wonder if the tuna played a role?

Rep Power: 10 | If you leave it in the fridge long enough I bet it would get furry.

Rep Power: 1 | My mom and I were having a discussion on this just a few days ago! I was telling her how unappealing I find tuna casserole and she was telling me that she made it once a week when she was first married because it was dirt cheap and my parents didn't have any money. Anyway, she ate tons of it while pregnant with both me and my brother and we turned out relatively okay.
I currently have 12 cans of tuna in my pantry. A four pack was buy one get one free a few weeks ago and I decided to stock up since hurricane season is just around the corner. 2004 was such a lesson for everyone and you can always open up a can of tuna and eat it with crackers when the power is out and everything else is gone! |

Rep Power: 1 | I can't take much of canned tuna at all. I'm guessing it is the mercury, but something in it makes my throat hurt. I LOVE tuna salad but after one sandwich, my throat starts to feel scratchy
I've never tried tuna steaks, but probably have the same problem
