Rep Power: 1 | Mayo or Miracle Whip? What were you raised on? Mom always had Miracle Whip, which is what I still prefer. Now there are times in certain recipes when only mayo will do and I have to buy it but on a sandwich, in deviled eggs or potato salad, it's has to be Miracle Whip. Now is mayo a southern thing? I know Paula puts mayo in a lot of her recipes. I've tried several of them and haven't been able to eat it because of the 'mayo overtones' so I'll either omit it or substitute it with a little sour cream.

Rep Power: 1 | I can't stand Miracle Whip. It's way too sweet for me. My husband was raised on it, but I have converted him successfully.
I think that mayo really is prevalent in the South. I was raised in a very southern family and my pocket of Central Florida is home to lots of southerners and almost everyone that I know uses mayo.
I'm pretty picky about my mayonnaise. I usually buy Hellman's, but I also like Dukes. |

Rep Power: 10 | Neither for me. But if I had to pick one I guess it would be mayo because I put it in things like egg salad.

Rep Power: 10 | Out here, Hellman's is Best Foods and I say mayo over Miracle Whip.
Have never heard it was a southern thing.
Grew up in Chicago and it was always Hellman's or nothing. Husband grew up in Ohio and it was always Miracle Whip. Go figure.

Rep Power: 1 | Mayo only for me, miracle whip is just too sweet.
Here in NC mayo is pretty popular, but if you go into a southern locally owned sub shop and ask for mayo, you will often get miracle whip, I would say miracle whip is more popular here than any other place I've been.
I am a Hellman's guy, I will eat others, but Hellman's to me is just perfect. Duke's is very popular here as well, it would be my second choice.

Rep Power: 1 | Miracle whip makes me gag. We had it in the house growing up and it always had that slightly sweet/weird taste to it. Once I had Hellman's mayo, there was no turning back. I can dip my fries in it, dress up any sandwich, and be happy.
Mayo=fatty+tasty/not caring about calories or fat.

Rep Power: 0 | I use both but I find I like Miracle Whip in potato, tuna, or egg salad and Hellman's on burgers or lunch meat sandwiches. |
