All the ones I have looked into never had what I wanted. Maybe now days they would be better, but seemed liked by the time you joined the co-op and paid your dues, the food was still cheaper at the market. I know one of them I looked into was mainly dryed beans.

There is a church here that is part of the angel food network, a food co-op, and they have some good boxes of food, around $30 it is said to provide food for a family of 4 for a week or a senior citizen for a month. You don't get to choose your food, there is a different menu every month with add on boxes with additional meat at a very good price.

I could see this as a great resource for those struggling to make ends meet.
