| Yeah it seems like everyone is on the whole grain band wagon these days, you really have to be careful.
I look for things that list whole wheat or whole grain as the #1 ingredient. I also look to see that it has some fiber to it. Many breads just sprinkle some oaty looking stuff on top and color the dough brown. When you combine whole wheat or whole grain as the first ingredient, and look for fiber you know that you are getting a healthier product. One rule I have with bread, it must have at least 2-3 grams of fiber per 100 calories. This rule goes out the door when it comes to sourdough, or artisan bread, You gotta live sometimes!
