A place for . . . hey, who moved my baking supplies?

A place for . . . hey, who moved my baking supplies?
By KATHY KELLY
THE BEAT GOES ON I've been trying to reorganize and downsize my kitchen lately to make it a little more cook-friendly. Utensils I haven't used in years -- plastic items turned to stone and ready to break at any minute, lid tops with no bottoms -- they're history. But one of the things of which I was most proud after this summer/fall cleaning spree was the way in which I managed to compress my cake-baking supplies so that they were at the ready when the bug bit me. A purchase of a wire mesh basket solved the problem.

I bought shelves for all my spices and baking supplies for inside the cabinet. LOVE THEM! Wish I had done it years ago. So neat and tidy and everything within view. No more digging to the back of the cabinet for something.

I have some things for organizers but I need more. I am still digging for some things and I hate that too.

I put up a small SS shelf on the back wall of the kitchen under my cabinets just for my spices. Keeps them away from the heat, I can see what I have and don't have and they're off the counter and super handy. I'm getting ready to order some drawer organizers from a woodworking catalog to help clean up the mess in a couple of my kitchen drawers. I hate having to dig thru stuff.

Bought a new silverware organizer as well. Just love that and it looks so much classier than the rubber one we use to have. These are mesh and are silver.

I like those as well but couldn't find any that would fit the drawer.

I have had that problem too. Williams Sonoma has some but they are kinda pricey.

Ended up buying ours at Container Store. That's another dangerous store for buying more than you go in there for.

I was just thinking that I need a better solution for organizing spices, I at least have the sweet and savory in different cabinets, that makes things easier. I need to cull through and get rid of some old spices and get some fresh ones, sounds like a good saturday project!
