    Thumbs down Nut Butter Maker

A couple months ago my Mom ordered from Neiman Marcus this Nut Butter Maker. It ended up being out of stock for several weeks so we waited and finally it arrived on Saturday. We went out this morning to buy nuts to try out in it. It says that you can make nut butter out of all kinds of nuts including peanuts, cashews, pistachios, brazil, and so on. We ended up buying cashews and peanuts, and we tried out the cashews first.

This thing is the biggest piece of junk ever. We put the nuts in, turned it on, it made some loud noises as it desperately tried to churn the nuts. Before you think maybe we should have broken the cashews up into pieces before trying it (just to help it along) they were already cashew pieces. What little came out before it jammed was chunky and gross. We cleared the machine out figuring one just got stuck in there, and it churned for another 20 seconds and jammed again.

My Mom was just going to throw it out, but instead decided it was worth sending it back. Too bad, we were exciting about it, especially since we had waited. I know it was only $40, but since it was from Neiman Marcus I guess we expected a little better quality. I guess not.

Thanks for the review! I had seen this advertised and had thought about getting it for the DH since he is a peanut butter freak and I'm always having to buy multiple big jars each time I go to the store. I won't waste my $$.

It's cute, but it should do something.

I should have taken a picture of the stuff it made. Or a video of it making a loud noise and not doing much as it spits out a half teaspoon of chunky-when-its-supposed-to-be-smooth cashew butter.

I told my Mom the magic bullet would do just as good of a job. We had two of them, the one burned out and she thinks the other one is on its way out too. She said we'll just buy the stuff in the jar. Maybe sometime I'll give it a try.
