Wanchai ferry Chinese Dinner Kits

http://www.wanchaiferry.com/

I saw this on a website. I think it looks pretty good. I usually don't do premade or mixed packets for seasoning and preparing dishes but Asian food is something I just haven't learned to do well on my own. I have a wok and I try, but it's never quite the same.

The Cashew Chicken looks yummy. Actually, they all do.

I prefer mine a little more Americanized. I think that might be the reason I can't get some things right at home though, I don't know the authentic way to make it and I go with what I think might work from looking at packages in the store.

I finally bought the spicy garlic chicken. I am going to add vegetables along with the chicken. I will let you know what I think of it.

This was actually pretty good. I was pleased. I added bean sprouts and stir fry veggies along with the chicken. It was very similar to take out. But when they say spicy they mean it. I liked it, but it might be a bit much for some.

The term spicy can be tricky. There is a mexican restaurant that we enjoy going to. And it's interesting that sometimes the salsa is very nice and other times you have to call the fire department to put out the fire! Maybe it just depends on who is making it.

I can say something is too spicy and my husband will say it isn't spicy at all. That's why I put the hot sauce out for him and he can add as much heat as he wants.

The cashew chicken doesn't say spicy, so maybe those who prefer less heat can give that one a try. I lucked out on the bean sprouts they had them in the section with the packaged fresh spices. I hope the keep carrying them. They were in little plastic containers like what you get fresh berries in. I used 2 of those with some other stir fry veggies. I will probably continue to buy this because I just can't master oriental dishes on my own. I don't know if it's because I buy grocery store items or what my problem is. We do have an asian market a little ways from where my parents live, but I am not sure what to buy if I did go.

Even though I try to avoid the dinner kits because they seem a little too Sandra Lee for me, I think this one might be a keeper. Adding the veggies makes me feel better about it, and it really can't be much worse than what you get with take out I suppose, since we don't know what's in that.
