Anymore Queenie comes with me to go shopping. I don't know how that happened.

Today I stopped at the grocery store to pickup a few remaining items for Thanksgiving. One of the items was celery for the stuffing/dressing.

In the produce department they had two stacks of celery right next to each other. Another woman was debating and said, "Which do you choose? They are the same price." I said, "Look again. One sign says $1.69/pkg., the other says $1.69/pound."

She hadn't read carefully enough and thought maybe she would get the $1.69/lb. I asked what she was using it for and she said stuffing. I told her the $1.69 was just as good, especially if you were going to chop it up for stuffing.

She took a package of the per pound over to weigh it. Oh surprise, it was 2 lbs.! I handed her one of the packages that was $1.69 per pkg. It, too, weighed 2 lbs. Guess which one she bought? Of course, the per pkg. one for $1.69.

I gave her a suggestion on how to store it. Rinse it when you get home, wrap it entirely in paper towels and then in aluminum foil tightly. It keeps fresh and crunchy for weeks. I told her I rarely learn anything new from Rachael Ray but that trick works. She then said, "Who is Rachael Ray?" I said she is on the Food Channel and THEN she said, "I have never watched it so I don't have a clue as to who she is."

What? Someone has NEVER heard of RR? She's on boxes of crackers in my pantry, every magazine, TV show...you can't avoid seeing her. Yet, this one person did not know who she was.

I had her laughing so hard throughout the produce department that you would have thought I was doing standup comedy. How wonderful it was to make someone that happy if even for just a couple of minutes.

Maybe she will come home to look her up online and we can recruit her.

She said she wasn't that into cooking. Although, she was having 14 people over for Thanksgiving. Pretty big endeavor for someone who doesn't care to cook, don't you think?
