Paula Deen Cast Iron Pans Are Recalled
New York Times
In March 2008, Paula Deen told readers of her blog on QVC that she was about to go on the air to pitch a new product that she was characteristically enthusiastic about:
[snip]
A few weeks ago, customers who had bought three of Ms. Deen’s cast iron pans received letters from QVC, informing them that the pans were being recalled because they can crack or shatter during heating. So much for extra stability.... (more)

Must have been cheap imports. She should have teamed up with Lodge for some good cast iron.

Even if Alton wasn't a Lodge user, I'd still love the stuff.

But the CI skillet I have is not Lodge, its my great-grandmother's no brand markings. And my 4.5 qt Dutch oven my mom found at a church rummage sale is also unmarked.

However, all of the new CI I've bought is Lodge

I never seen her stuff other than on TV looked like it was not that heavy they way they were using it when selling it, and looked thin. I was not impressed with it, I have some lodge, some off brand, and some that was handed down. I have had one just bust right in two, my fault that what happens when you throw it hot in cold water.

All of my cast iron is Lodge except for two pieces (skillet and cornstick pan) which where my grandmother's.

I've notice that the pieces of cast iron that Paula has used on her show has been Lodge.

I have seen her stuff at JCPenneys. And in a Montgomery wards catalog I received in the mail. I didn't know Montgomery Wards still existed.
