Ginger Ale-Glazed Ham
Pioneer Press - Mar 12 10:18 PMThis sweet and tangy glaze from celebrity chef Paula Deens' sons was inspired by a cola-glaze they grew up eating. Recipe adapted from "The Deen Bros. Cookbook" by Jamie Deen and Bobby Deen (Meredith Books, 2007)
Makes 8 to 10 servings.
3- to 4-pound boneless ham
1 cup white wine
2 1/2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons molasses
Pinch cayenne pepper
2 cups ginger ale
2 tablespoons honey
Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Place ham in roasting pan. In medium saucepan, combine wine, mustard, molasses and cayenne pepper. Bring to a simmer. Cook for 5 minutes. Stir in ginger ale. Pour glaze over ham. Bake for 1 1/2 hours. Increase oven temperature to 325 degrees. Bake, basting every 15 minutes, for 1 hour. Brush ham with honey. Bake, basting every 15 minutes, for 30 minutes or until ham is well glazed. Slice and serve.
