Rachael Ray won't use local bakery biz

SPRINGBORO — You might say The Cake Ladies got the business from the Rachael Ray Show.
Cookies baked at the Springboro bakery won't be fed anytime soon to the studio audience for Ray's Emmy-winning show, co-owners Julianna Scheaffer and Maura Leavitt said Tuesday.

I can understand the concern. It does make sense as the shop probably doesn't have the type of insurance it would take if something went wrong and the cookies were given to an entire audience of a talk show.

I can totally understand. Not only the insurance issue, but sanitation issues as well. Here, in Oregon, you can't have pets in a house if you operate any kind of food preparation and you have to have your kitchen inspected by the state.
Not all states have such strict regulations, so you don't know what conditions people are cooking/baking in.

I'd be fairly certain these ladies abide by the safety standards. I mean, if I was running a home food business, I'd want to be very certain everything was perfect.

Couldn't do it now with my Sophie and our two birds. Sophie is very good about sitting in her crate or way over on the carpet in the family room and will watch me from there. She is not one to be right under foot begging for food.

If they are that good maybe the recognition from this story can help them expand and get a bakery.

I'm sure a lot of it has to do with expense of buying equipment and overhead.
Although, I've heard of people using local bakeries to make their products so they don't have to make them at home.

Yes, unfortunately anyone can sue anyone else over anything, and have a decent chance of recovering damages. One only need to read the yearly Stellas, to understand the concern.
