Rep Power: 10 | We just got a newsletter from our vet about allergies and your pets this time of year. Sounds like you need to take your cat to the vet for allergy tests.
Sophie has been scratching and I've been sneezing. Think we both have allergies..the flowering plum trees are starting to blossom and we both get this reaction this time of year.

Rep Power: 10 | I've been watching this Rachael Ray Feeds Your Pets and so far I only have positive things to say about it. As she made the Mini Muttballs and Ditalini she mentioned that the use of garlic for dogs is very controversial and that you should see your vet about what works with that breed. They also had a short segment with a Vet who mentioned that you should not feed your dog some foods like grapes, raisins, and macademia nuts. I'm only about 20 minutes into the show and they have said a few times that you should speak to your vet about what kinds of foods are appropriate for dogs.
Suzie, cats weren't left out either. They did a segment with Evangers of Wheeling, IL and they briefly talked about the nutritional needs of cats and their high-quality dog and cat food.

Rep Power: 2 | The Rach should be as circumspect about warning people to check with their physicians before eating the food she prepares for humans. |

Rep Power: 10 | At least they gave the warnings about certain foods.
However, I would never give Sophie raw food. They did say there is still controversary over raw food. Don't think I ever asked our vet, as I find raw meat very iffy to give her.
This is my philosophy....I only give Sophie food that I would eat. So, no raw meat or eggs. She does get fresh vegetables like carrots, celery and lettuce.
Stick peas in her food but she will eat around everything and leave them!
Last night she had ground sirloin, applesauce (no sugar added..all natural) and a little low fat cottage cheese. No salt, no flavorings other than the natural ones and she ate it in a blink. Honestly, I don't think dogs care if they have salt or not..besides, it isn't good for them.
I was surprised they also used pepper on the food. Didn't understand that one.

Rep Power: 2 | Last summer I went to an ice cream place with a friend and her dog. They gave the dog a small vanilla soft serve called a pup cup. The dog loved it but I wonder now if it was okay to do this. |

Rep Power: 10 | Probably just like with us one occasional treat probably wouldn't harm them, unless it's something they can't digest. |

Rep Power: 10 | Dairy can upset their systems but Sophie gets little bits of it. She has since she was a pup so it doesn't upset her system.
She goes nuts when I pull out the whipped cream can. I don't have to say a thing, she just knows what it looks like. I give her a small bit on my finger and she is happy.
I guess it is the Jack LaLanne saying, "Everything in moderation" and that includes our pets!
