Make Your Own Girl Scout Cookies Homemade Girl Scout Cookie recipes January 4

22 comments Girl Scout cookie season is just around the corner. As usual, I’m not really planning to buy any of the Girl Scouts’ offerings - although I am happy to support local troops in other ways - because I know that I can make cookies that are as good or better at home. Girl Scout cookies still contain partially hydrogenated oils, even if they have decreased the amount to come in under the FDA’s
definition of “zero trans fats per serving” (no more than .5g per serving). Homemade cookies are made with real ingredients - butter, sugar, flour, chocolate - and really do have zero trans fats. They’re still indulgent treats, but treats you can feel good about eating!

10 My daughter likes the samoas. I wonder how close the taste is?

I use to buy them, but we just don't eat them anymore. The last box I bought was in the freezer for two years!
I do clean out the freezer more often than that, but just couldn't part with those cookies thinking I would one day eat them...but I didn't.

I love the thin mints. Might have to try those.

10 If a box is opened here with 4 people eating from it, then they are not around long. Not a whole lot of cookies in those boxes to begin with.

I wonder why they never added chocolate chip to their line up.

Years and years ago, I do think they had them.
Probably wanted to stick with the flavors that weren't available anywhere else except through the Girl Scouts...good marketing.

4 When I was a Girl Scout there was a chocolate chip available. It was replaced... can't remember with what.
I love the Samoas, Thin Mint and the Trefoil (a shortbread)
My mom liked one that was peanut butter called Tag-a-long
Gosh, I remember way too much about those cookies

I wonder how hard the recipes are to make.
