Okay, new to this Forum, not a trained chef. I'm just a big fan of shows like DI, Hells Kitchen (Or any show with Ramsey in it).

I have been a big fan of DI and probably have watched each episode twice. I like Irvines style, his food, basically I liked everything. I haven't followed or cared to look up what the whole deal was about him embelishing his resume and don't really care.

The fact that someone turned him in and Food Network immediately fires him is comical. Would people have not watched the show if he stayed on? Of course they would have. Probably every executive at the food network embelished his/her resume to get were they are, we all have. I watched the first show with the new guy right up to were he layed out how the tables would be setup so there would be a "huge mound of seafood"?? I barely made it past were he did the chocolate covered bacon and called it "Money"? This guy may be a great cook but watching a Harley Davidson Bikey gang cook upscale food is not my vision of DI.

This guy has a huge ego and it shows. Please don't this personal if I offended any posters of this group.

Pretty much all of us liked Robert as well. I think there are a few that turned against him but not many. We were a little disappointed that he did it, but still liked him.

I liked the show with Robert. I am willing to give Michael a chance, but I hope to see Robert again somewhere, even if it's not on the food network.

Irvine will be a tough act to follow. To be fair, since I enjoy the show's format, I'll watch a few episodes of the new DI. Symon could be an acquired taste so I'm willing to give him a shot.

I like both chefs!... Irvine was funny!.. We will see how the new show goes.. I personally don't care about his past.. its kinda like the baseball thing.. and ill prolly hit some nerves here but I think they should all take steroids lol it would make it more interesting!

In some of my other post I have compared the two, I liked Robert I liked the class he brought to the show, I liked his food ideas, I liked his plating skills, I liked his recipes. Symon offers a completely different style, an rough American, it doesn't seem to have the upper end to it so far, since I have only seen the first teaser show which was a half hour, I wonder if his hour show will improve it only remains to be seen. I wish Robert would do another show, I do not care where I would watch it.

I always enjoyed watching Robert in DI and will miss him... and, I didn't care if he "embellished" his resume a wee bit. It wasn't the resume that got him the job. Read this from Robert's blog:

Interestingly, my resume is not what got me the job on Dinner: Impossible. The show was created by Brian O'Reilly, a writer and producer who became executive producer of the show, and was based on events from my life and on skills that I had developed over the course of my career that were unique to me: cooking at a high culinary level under pressure, often for large numbers of people, sometimes with limited resources and an ability to improvise with whatever I had on hand to get the job done. We arranged a date to fix a gourmet luncheon for the players and coaches of the NY Rangers and the NY Knicks at their training facility in New York (21 dishes served in a buffet line for 60 people in 3 hours) and from there produced a “sizzle” reel that demonstrated the concept for the show (which was originally called “Fit For A King”). Food Network saw the sizzle reel, loved it, added the element of keeping each “mission” a secret from me until I arrived on the scene, changed the name, bought the show, and the rest is history.

As for Symon taking over the show... I've only see the one "sneak preview" and they did have fun with it and I got a kick out of his one sous chef. And chocolate-coated bacon... drool, drool.
