I was astonished to see that Michael didn't know how to load lamb on a simple spit, and then to see him bandaging his fingers after he had slashed them with his knife.
Don't get me wrong, I'm sure most Food Network chefs occasionally cut themselves. However, I've never seen them do so. "Cut! Get *** a bandage! We'll just have to stop the flow of blood, glue the skin together, and start over." So, I find it rather refreshing to see someone who is not afraid to admit they occasionally cut themselves while rapidly moving lengths of razor-sharp steel around.
And, I suppose it is not all that surprising that a city boy like Michael has never before had to load a barbecue spit. At least, upon reflection, I don't find it terribly surprising. I mean, I guess the guy didn't grow up roasting pigs on a spit every weekend, you know? However, I must admit, when I first saw it, my reaction was (to quote a certain wascally wabbit) "What a maroon," which is neither charitable or politically correct, I know. So sue me. :P
So, I am rather torn. I like honesty in a television show, but I would like the host to be better at what he does than I am. You know?
So what do you think?
