I disagree with Sandra on the store brand stuff. I buy tons of store brand items. Not sure about the cream of mushroom soup... I guess I make meals that don't require cream soups!!

Kroger has a "private selection" label and a lot of those things are very good. The ice cream is as good as any premium brand.

Yep. I love Kroger's natural peanut butter, and from what I recall, the ingredients are simply "peanuts, peanut oil, salt".

We have a lot of store brand items, most are as good if not better than the name brands, not all mind you you have to be selective, for me it is only Jiff, but that is just my personal preference. One thing I did notice in the article it says some thing about Sandra saying something about the foodies who look down their nose at her because of her cooking style, and what did she just say about buying name brand stuff only ? she needs to go look in the mirror about looking down the nose. It is no wonder people say what they do about her. It is not her cooking but her attitude towards it.

I don't think she's looking down on them. I think she just believes many products that do not have a "name" to live up to are inferior. For some things I would agree, but not all. Like you said ... you have to be selective.

Well now someone has to go to the store and look at a generic cream of mushroom and tell me what the deal is.
Those who forget the pasta are condemned to reheat it.

Most generic and store brands are made by well-known manufacturers. I know Nabisco makes a lot of products that are grocery store brands....so does Libby.
Sandra needs to do her homework. Most generic and store brands are really good.
The difference is they don't have huge advertising to pay for so they can keep the products at a lower price.
Wonder who makes the cream of mushroom soup...maybe Campbell or Progresso?BerryBaby

Guess I'm not a smart shopper for I do buy some store brands. In fact, some of the store brands I use are better than the national brands.
Lee's clever cooking shortcuts have raised the scorn of fresh-food proponents such as Anthony Bourdain, who has attacked her as "Hell Spawn of Kathie Lee" with "death-dealing, can-opening ways.
Aunt Sandy has probably eaten so much sodium, preservatives and booze that she "preserved" for life. Most of all, cook from the heart, and you’ll never be lonely when the dinner bell rings! - Chef Robert Irvin
