Rep Power: 1 | While I was visiting my daughter yesterday, we started talking about some of the shows on the Food Network and my 16-year-old granddaughter Morgan piped up with, "Gramma, have you ever seen the show with that skinny blonde woman?" I said, "You mean Sandra Lee?" She said, "OMG! Those tablescapes are ridiculous. Can you imagine having to buy all that stuff for every party you have? And how come everything she cooks comes out of a can or box?" So I guess even a teenager can't be fooled. But I guess if you know how to cook and have the time, you'd find her recipes kinda blech. But if your life is filled with other activities and you don't have much time to devote to cooking, I guess some of her recipes can be useful. My opinion is that if she spent less time on tablescapes she'd have a lot more time to cook some decent food from scratch, LOL. (Okay, now I'm gonna go stand in the corner.)

Rep Power: 2 | Okay, as the lone Aunt Sandy fan here, I will make a defense for her. :ura1: Aunt Sandy's whole premise is 80% store bought and 20% from scratch so if you want wonderful, gourmet meals on FN, you should watch...Mar...no, he's not there any more, uhhh......maybe you'd have better luck on PBS. (Taking the other corner now.) |

Rep Power: 10 | I LOVE the fruit from Chile....it's in the stores right now and the nectarines and peaches are my favorites. Maybe we get different fruit here, but the flavor is very good.
I do keep all kinds of frozen fruit in the freezer. It is mostly berries and peaches that I bought at the farms last summer. It tastes almost as good as when I brought it home fresh. At least I know where it came from and there are NO preservatives.

Hey, I absolutely LOVE Sandy Lee! She seems like such a SWEET woman! She LOOKS good, she knows how to make a dollar go further, knows how to cook, but can cut a sharp corner if pressed for time. So many women have SO little time to take care of things, since she WORKS along with taking care of her family...
Tablescapes, I believe, are just suggestions, and not every tablescape is meant to be used...if I read her correctly these are just examples...if one strikes you, USE it. She doesn't mean EVERY meal has a tablescape! Can you imagine?
My heart went out for her, when I found out how hard she took losing her grandmother. They were close, and Sandy came springing back, much to OUR good fortune. I LOVE the woman. I wish her nothing but the best!

Rep Power: 1 | While I find her approach to cooking comical at times, I have a hard time not liking her. I do watch her shows hoping for another doozy like the show featuring the Kwanzaa cake, I couldn't believe what I was watching.
Have you ever read the reviews for her recipes? People are just so darned mean and awful, you know that they have never tried the recipes, they just get off on bashing her and making themselves feel superior.
Did you guys know that she attended Le Cordon Blue? I found that surprising, she might have some skill under that semi homemade exterior! I think for someone just starting out cooking, her show speaks to them, and when they get better at cooking, they may just move on from there, I find that a good thing.

I've seen so much mean and nasty posting...I've erased websites that I used to be a member of, because I get tired of DEFENDING people who should NOT HAVE to be defended. Rachael has the most haters I've seen so far. Unfair.
I belong to several forums, all diverse, and they all share the same problem. A lack of moderation. It is the moderator's job to delete and chastise posters who post in such manner. It gets overwhelming. It all boils down to readership. Case in point? This forum. Suzie runs a great spot, here. I bet readership would dwindle here, if all you ever saw was Food Network Star bashing. There is ALREADY a site like that. This one's the GOOD one!

Rep Power: 1 | Wow, I think this is the most times I've ever seen anyone say something nice about her. While I don't care for her particular style of cooking, I guess the main thing is just that I don't care for personality. I did see her ep on the Chefography series and was surprised to see that she was so hard-working and continually took care of her family so, for that, I give her props for that. I saw her on Ellen yesterday and the recipe she made actually wasn't too bad. Chicken marinated with pineapple and liquor then grilled. Then she made Ellen a special drink, I think she called it a pom-tini; pomegranate juice and 3-4 kinds of liquor. Since Ellen always jokes about loving her drinks, it was actually an entertaining segment. I just wish that Ellen hadn't introduced her as "the next Martha Stewart" cause, if there were ever two polar opposites......

Rep Power: 10 | They did a lot of editing of that spot but it was better than I thought it would be.
What happened to the 11 year old who uses leftovers to make other dishes? I thought he was suppose to be on yesterday.
