Bake Sale That Delivers For America's Children North American Press Syndicate, NY - Feb 13, 2008 ... American children at risk for hunger," said Sandra Lee, campaign spokesperson and star of the Food Network's "Semi-Homemade® Cooking with Sandra Lee. ..
I don't think you can have bake sales out here due to cooking regulations.
I know you can't bring anything 'homemade' for your children's parties at schools. Has been that way for years. It all has to be prepackaged and store bought.
It's too bad as I recall very special treats when I was in elementary school that parents would make. When I was Room Parent, 20+ years ago, I had to buy everything premade/packaged so it's been in effect a long time.
I remember how much fun it was for my mom and I to bake for school parties! We had some really talented moms that would make some great stuff.
I never remember anyone having a problem with food allergies. It does seem that even more kid's are allergic to peanuts these days or more parents are paranoid about it, I'm not quite sure.
They do a bake walk at my son's school for the Fall Festival every year. You buy tickets to participate in all the things they have for the kids to do, but you don't have pay for the individual items. Most people just buy something from a bakery for that but there are no rules that says they have to, people are just lazy.
I can see it now, a bake sale full of store bought angel food cakes iced with canned icing or cool whip! MAC
Hey, now! Aunt Sandy always adds a capful of artificial flavoring (champagne is my favorite to date) to that canned icing or cool whip! Why, sometimes she even mixes in some coconut or shaves a bit of candy bar on top.
