I don't think you can have bake sales out here due to cooking regulations.
I know you can't bring anything 'homemade' for your children's parties at schools. Has been that way for years. It all has to be prepackaged and store bought.
It's too bad as I recall very special treats when I was in elementary school that parents would make. When I was Room Parent, 20+ years ago, I had to buy everything premade/packaged so it's been in effect a long time.BerryBaby

I remember how much fun it was for my mom and I to bake for school parties! We had some really talented moms that would make some great stuff.
I never remember anyone having a problem with food allergies. It does seem that even more kid's are allergic to peanuts these days or more parents are paranoid about it, I'm not quite sure.

That's sad, kids would want to have something they really like so the others could try something their Mommy makes.

"Semi-Homemade® Cooking with Sandra Lee." "Everyone in your community and workplace can get involved by baking their favorite Semi-Homemade® recipes."
I can see it now, a bake sale full of store bought angel food cakes iced with canned icing or cool whip!

I donate food to the Food Bank. We just had a huge drive during the holiday and will probably have another mid-year.
Anyone out there know of bake sales in your area? I just know we don't have them out here anymore.
On one of Giada's shows, she was baking for a bake sale at a niece's school. Bet her baked goods sold quickly. No boxed stuff there!BerryBaby

They do a bake walk at my son's school for the Fall Festival every year. You buy tickets to participate in all the things they have for the kids to do, but you don't have pay for the individual items. Most people just buy something from a bakery for that but there are no rules that says they have to, people are just lazy.

I don't know about bake sales associated with schools but we do have community bake sales. I wouldn't buy homemade food unless I knew the cook though.
