Cooks Can Overcome Rheumatoid Arthritis
February 28, 2008
On the Food Network show "Semi-Homemade Cooking With Sandra Lee," Lee offers busy viewers shortcuts for creating easy meals by combining store-bought ingredients with homemade items. Now the lifestyle expert has a new mission — sharing tips and tricks designed to make cooking and baking easier for individuals with rheumatoid arthritis.
Inspired by her grandmother, a master baker who suffered from the disease but found ways to keep cooking in spite of chronic pain, joint stiffness and swelling, Lee is spearheading a new campaign for those who can't get around a kitchen the way they used to.
"I Can With RA in the Kitchen," a combined effort from the Arthritis Foundation and
Bristol-Myers Squibb,
www.ICanWithRa.com, includes kitchen organization ideas, cooking tips, recipes and a self-assessment tool to help individuals track how rheumatoid arthritis affects their ability to perform everyday tasks.
