The happy semi-homemaker

The happy semi-homemaker
Houston Chronicle - United States
It’s the stuff that makes hard-core foodies cringe: Processed cheese, stuffing and bread crumbs from a box, frozen pizza dough, refrigerated mashed potatoes, packets of instant sauce and dry-seasonings mix.
It’s also the stuff that makes Sandra Lee happiest. Her culinary alchemy with a tub of Cool Whip or a can of Campbell’s Cream of Mushroom Soup is legendary. It helped her become a star.
Her embrace of packaged foods and trademark “70/30” cooking philosophy (combining 70 percent ready-made products with 30 percent fresh) have earned her a loyal fan base of home cooks who appreciate saving time in the kitchen.
Lee’s Semi-Homemade brand, which already includes a popular Food Network series and a line of cookbooks, has recently taken another leap. Hoffman Media has launched Sandra Lee Semi-Homemade, a bimonthly magazine whose debut edition is on newsstands. According to Hoffman, which also publishes Cooking with Paula Deen, Semi-Homemade was the top selling title at Sam’s Club stores the first week of its release.....
