Meat is one item I purchase from mom and pop stores because it much better than the pre-packed stuff found at the chains.

Of course, like Suzie, I have the same problem with supermarket selection. We have Kroger and Kroger.

One thing nice about living on a small sea island like Edisto, is its a bit like "living back in time." Almost all the full-time people knows everyone and what's going on with everyone. Heck, most of the people here don't even lock their cars or doors to their houses! There is no rushing here... not even a stop light on the island. The locals like to say that things here run on "Edislow Time."

For a food store we have just a wee little Piggly-Wiggly down at the beach. The place looks like it stepped out of the 60's. But, over on the mainland, we do have a good choice of other stores if you are willing to drive 45 minutes to a hour. Luckily, we do have plenty of fresh seafood available. You can purchase it at one of our several seafood shops, right off the boat, or catch your own. Also, lots of local produce grown on the island too.

Nice to know a place like yours still exists! I miss a lot of gentleness about the 50's and 60's.

I watched both episodes and still on the fence. I'm a huge fan of the semi-homemade concept - I think it's wonderful. For me personally, prices on the show don't reflect prices in Central Florida (where I'm from). So the cost-savings part of the show isn't applicable. I like the quick-fire recipes, but can't apply her new show concept - it's just not realistic for my area.

It would have to be hard give prices nationwide. Maybe Sandra can start a website and hire people from different states to help her do a price chart.

I finally got to see part of her new show yesterday, but it was T-storming so the sat. signal kept going in and out. About all I got to see was using up the extra sliced potatoes.

Haven't seen it...first Mother's Day, then I was outside working in the yard...this time of year I try and spend my mornings outside before the heat hits.

Maybe next Sunday it will rain and I'll be inside.
