The apt under me has a pantry just off from the kitchen, but this one doesn't.

I think almost everyone I know here on Edisto goes to Costco to shop. Because of our distance from anything, people here tend to stock up and most have two refrigerators and a freezer. One of my neighbors has three refrigerators! I have only the one and could stand another just to use as a "cold" pantry. I have to store lots of things in my one fridge (nuts, grains, the DH's giant jar of dill pickles, etc) that it doesn't leave me much room for the everyday things.
The downstairs bath (bath/storage room) has this hugh fiberglass shower in it and I trying to talk the DH into removing the shower (just capping the plumber off) and putting in it's place another fridge and bringing the freezer over from the outbuilding and placing them side-by-side in the space. A few months ago I bought freshvac food storage containers that have a little vacuum seal on the top of them and they keep my food fresher for so much longer. I like to eat healthy and so I buy a lot of fruits and vegetables from the market. They used to go bad so fast, now they last over a week in my fridge in the freshvac containers. They are an excellent choice if you are looking to save money by not creating waste. Their website is Welcome To freshvac™ Vacuum Food Storage
