Even a little garden can save you money.

I am at a disadvantage when it comes to growing vegetables. I have a lot of trees and shade that keep plants away from the sunlight that they love. This year I am trying a little container gardening....

I picked lettuce from my salad bowl yesterday! It's only been planted for maybe a month(?) and the lettuce is wonderful. So fun to go out on the patio and cut fresh lettuce and herbs. Container planting works perfectly for me. And, you can move the containers during the day for maximum sun exposure. I have many of the pots on rollers.

I did plant a few lettuce seeds, but I don't know if they are going to do anything. Maybe next year I will start them inside a little earlier.

I buy the tiny, starters. They were barely an inch high when I planted them and thought they wouldn't take. I was very wrong and they grew like crazy!

Now, I have planted carrots and radishes by seed and we'll see what happens. Covered the container with netting so the birds would eat the seeds. Even though they have three feeders, they find my vegetables to be a real treat!
