I think lots of stores are realizing they need to adjust some prices for the economy. Kroger has some items 10 for 10 dollars.

Our HEB's have been running 5 for $5 and a thing called meal deal, buy a HEB ham or beef brisket fully cooked and get 8 items to go with it for a meal. They also have a combo loco buy one of something you get something free with it, like you buy creamer you get the coffee to go with it. They been doing this for a couple years now.

Just so happened to be in a Safeway last Friday and picked up the special of the day: a HUGE sub sandwich with a trio of deli meats and cheeses. Definitely a steal at five bucks! It was only two of us, so we didn’t get through the whole thing in one sitting, but it could have easily fed a family of four. Not bad for a quick and easy $5 meal.

You can get a slice of pizza and a very large soft drink for $2.50 at Dominick's (which is owned by Safeway).

Yesterday Safeway had Tuscan cataloupes (like they showed on Unwrapped a couple of nights ago)...buy one, get one free.

And, yes, they are the SWEETESS melons. Love the lines on the melon so you get a perfectly cut slice each time.

Turkey pot roast hmmm. well if it comes from the same part of the turkey as the pot roast on a cow ... gee I don't know, what would it be? The boney part of the wing? No wonder it's cheap.

I bought a pork shoulder for $8.75...it was huge!....4 Kaiser rolls (30 cents each) and cole slaw in a bag for $2.00 dressing included.

Feeds a family of four with meat left over...cost $2.99 a person.
Oh, I forgot...add BBQ sauce for a few cents more. Maybe $3.50 a person?

You can make really great food for little $'s if you know what to look for.
