Chopped looses !
After seeing tonight episode, I felt disgusted. Like I had been ripped off, in comptition rules are rules, you cannot change the rules in the middle of the game to fit the circumstances. They did tonight, was not right no shape or form. The chef that completed his dishes should have won, the other might have had two dishes that were good but his third was not done no shape or form. They just change the whole show now, it has lost the respectability, and as the host I feel Ted should have made them uphold the rules. Chopped might as well be CHOPPED, it is not a fair competition any more.

I haven't watched it yet as it gets auto DVR'd every week so we can watch it sans commercials. I love the show, but the judges get on my nerves with their snarky, rude comments. So, after reading your post, it seems that last night's episode is bound to tick me off. And you are absolutely correct - the rules are the RULES & they've chopped so many other competitors for not following the rules.

I thought it was an automatic elimination if one, they don't complete all the dishes, and two, they leave out one of the Chopped secret ingredients.
That's always been the case regardless if the dishes that are completed are good. That just doesn't seem right for the contestants that followed the rules.

They must write the rules in pencil or chalk so they can be erased and rewritten to "fit" the moment. Sound a lot like the Nascar rule book.

I have seen them let people go on before that didn't use all the ingredients.

When will they replay it? I missed it last night.

I think I just watched this one. It was the one where at the end the guy's bread dessert didn't cook? I guess its just a matter of deciding the winner on the basis of all 3 meals instead of just the dessert. Sometimes its frustrating to watch because the better dessert doesn't always win because of the first two meals. In some sense you can really make it to the final round and not really have a chance to win if your first plate was pretty bad but you managed to move on, it can handicap you so much. I do seem to remember one episode of chopped where one of the chefs got to go to all 3 rounds but he didn't complete all of the plates in each round.
I'm not sure if it was 100% based on the food, seemed like part of it could have been the arrogance of the one chef also. Those who forget the pasta are condemned to reheat it.

While he didn't finish his dessert completely, he did get every ingredient in the basket on the plate & I think that's why he wasn't automatically chopped for not finishing. And even though it sounds terrible to say this, that other guy really annoyed the crap out of me with his arrogance so I'm glad he lost. I liked him at first but then each time he opened his mouth it hurt him. I think it was last week or the week before where one of the chef's was just angry & didn't like the criticism to the point of actually making it uncomfortable to watch.

Some seem to think it is alright considering circumstances ? Put the losing chefs shoes on and then say it alright to lose $10,000.00 dollars to some one who did not follow the rules. The show is based on cooking skills, not personality. If it was personality, they would not need to cook anything at all, just do interviews and judges could go here is the money we like you better. Rules are rules and should be followed, if we allow that to happen on the show and do not disagree, would you like it if it was your son or daughter who bare the brunt of the judges decision ?
