1. 20 minutes for the "Appetizer" round is stupid. Ever since I noticed the change, it seems like all the chefs work to the last second to finish and the judges find problems with every single dish. Make it 30 minutes, or shorten the "Desert" round to 25 and increase this one to 25 as well.
2. I'm convinced that Alex Guarnaschelli is the "Anti-Christ"
3. I'd like to see a show in which the 4 contestants are some of the usual judges and the 3 judges are past winners. Also, get Ted Allen out there to cook it up as well.
Despite this, Chopped is the only episode I make a point to watch on Food Network. I never watch the network (Except with my girlfriend), but this show is a lot of fun.
I don't see what you find 'FUN" in this program. Chefs cleanning their sweat over the plates, or licking their fingers to taste and using that same finger to fix a food platter, or using the same spoon to taste sauce and using it, then, to serve that sauce in the plate. Running chefs back and forth between each other and hot stuff. Ted Allen's stern "YOU HAVE BEEN CHOPPED" after this person tried so hard to please a bunch of....."unsual judges". Even the chef's jacket are "drab" gray. Please tellme what is FUN>

snipped
I've often thought the same thing. I'd LOVE to see what some of those judges could cook, under pressure, with bizarre ingredient combinations.
Sorry! Maybe I was too harsh!
It's not that I hate. I just don't like! . I have seen other posts expressing some of my same feelings. The most outstandineg of all is the time limit issue. Due to this , I believe, that what follows are the issues I expressed. So for me, that's not fun
I was thinking maybe the round time should be changed based on what the product is. Like in the entree maybe a little longer if its something like chicken which has to be cooked through for sure, but then I thought that they are chefs and they know tricks to get the job done in the time given. I'm usually impressed with the dishes they come up with because a lot of the time I don't even know what some of the ingredients are let alone what they would pair well with.

I found last nights show especially entertaining, actual dishes that are makable and no what seemed ridiculously stupid ingredients in the baskets, yes some rather unusual ones but at least they were cook able and kind of went along with the other stuff in there. After reading the uptake on it for the new season off the blogs, I think we will have a much better season of shows. Times are a little short but they are doable. There are many ways to prepare food in a short time, but like the grease, I think if your a short order cook and have a idea that you just might use the deep fryer than it should be preheated for you. Thats like maybe setting all the ovens to 350 degree just because they might get used. I am liking this show more and more now that they are at least making some changes to get thing off on the right tracks. Ted Allen well what can I say he has always been a little weird for me.
