    Chopped Championship

Promo for Chopped Championship on the Food Network [video]

    August 2, 2009, 11:30 pm 1 Comment
Out of nowhere the Food Network aired a promo for the new show Chopped Championship that brings together "thirteen undefeated champions." Season one of Chopped had thirteen episodes, so it's probably safe to assume that all the winners from season one will be contestants, including Einat Admony, chef of Taim and Andre Marrero, Chef Tournant at L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon.

I've heard rumblings that TFN kinda screwed up again and gave away the winner during the final commercial break.

With ten minutes left in the show, The Food Network ran a promo of next week’s episode with James saying something like, “I already won twice… and now I’m ready for a 3rd victory.”

Did they really do this again??!

And I noticed too that the more they talked bad about someone’s food, the more likely they will continue. What's up with this show? The ingredients they give them are so ridiculous, as is the time constraint so that it’s uncomfortable to watch.

FN released this statement through their facebook page apologizing for the screw-up…After more searching, I found this:

“To Our Loyal Chopped Viewers: Food Network sincerely apologizes for the on-air promo that prematurely revealed the winner of the first round of the Chopped Champions competition. We thank you for your comments and want to reassure you this error wil…l not happen again. We value our viewers and hope you will continue to tune-in every Tuesday in September for more twists as Chopped Champions continues to unfold.”

From the comments on the food I thought the girl was going to win. I was surprised the guy ended up taking it, since it seemed like they didn't 'get' the dessert.

Did anyone else notice the "Champion" guy copied two things from the English guy's dishes for the first two rounds? He said something about cockles out of the shell and made it look almost the same as the other chef's dish and then did an apple slaw on his 2nd dish like the other guy did on his first dish. Also, that female judge was just mean. Umm, and who lets someone through with a hair on his dish??? Ewwwww!!!!

I didn't see the whole episode but I did make it up to the "hair" ruling. I thought that was really odd they would let him move on too. I have seen them put people out for dropping a spoon and using it, or "double dipping" so I thought he was gone.

He has as much hair as many women, and they normally put their hair back or wear a scarf. If male chefs want long hair they should follow the women's lead and tie it back. I am starting to see great value in a bald chef.

I could be wrong but this does not bode well for the show. If their ratings are lagging to the point that they need a gimmick "tournament of champions" to draw interest back then the show just needs to be cancelled.
