Celebrity chef Tyler Florence of Mill Valley will open a retail store in Banana Republic's old flagship location. A use permit for the Tyler Florence cookware store was unanimously approved by the Mill Valley Planning Commission Monday.
"We're very positive about it," said Rory Walsh, the city's community development director.
She said no opening date has been set for the store this spring.
Florence, a best-selling cookbook author and television personality known for his "Tyler's Ultimate" and "Food 911" shows on the Food Network, created the Real Kitchen cookware line sold exclusively through Mervyn's department stores.
In addition, he lends his name to a Mikasa line of kitchenware.
