Some of them are and some are real nice places. The dives tend to have better food I think.

always thought of a dive as a place that was not real fancy.... if it is a real dive might not be a place where you would want to go esp at night.
so a dive and a real dive are different

A dive to me is mismatched furniture and silverware, walls covered in posters and stuff from years ago, everything looks like it should have a good cleaning and it is dark and dingy. Oh, and it has a slight stale beer smell. Not a pretty picture.

There's a seafood dive around here called Bowen's Island that use to be a old shrimp processing plant - sloping concrete floor, cement block, nothing matches, mountains of oyster shells right outside the door and all of the walls are covered with names and dates of people who have eaten there. When you pull up to the place, you'd think you were at some abandoned building.
